The Canterbury Magicians we’re in full voice following their 64 run T20 victory over the Central Hinds at Hagley Oval.
The team song could be heard right around the ground with their impressive result and the news the Otago Sparks had beaten the Auckland Hearts in Dunedin, to ensure the Magicians go through to the competitions grand finale against the Wellington Blaze in Auckland.
Captain Frankie MacKay went to town with the bat, blasting 16 fours on her way to an unbeaten 97, the highest total ever scored by a Magician in the T20 competition and beating her previous best of 64.
Erin Bermingham added 36 runs to Canterbury’s final total of 168 runs, while Kate Ebrahim chimed in with 20.
The Central Hinds run chase suffered right from the get go with only two of their batters able to get into double figures.
Gabby Sullivan the pick of the Canterbury Bowlers with 3 for 30 off her 4 overs, Melissa Banks and Erin Bermingham claimed a brace each to help restrict the Hinds to 104 off their 20 overs.
